  1. …in reply to @AkilahObviously
@AkilahObviously @designmom The story goes that Pretty Boy Floyd was impossible to catch for so long because, when he'd rob a bank, he burned all the mortgage paperwork on his way out. No witnesses ever saw him, for some reason...
  2. …in reply to @SteveSchmidtSES
@SteveSchmidtSES Yeah, when they outright call people voting a "power grab" and admit that they're doing this because they can't win otherwise, MAYBE the country should stop treating them like a political party.
  3. …in reply to @AnActualOrisa
@TheEbiraWitch @designmom Yep. In so many cases, "logic" and "practical" are code for: I know it hurts your feelings to be called over-emotional, so I'm going to exploit that and think I've cornered you into accepting that this is the only option...
  4. …in reply to @Neo_url
@Neo_url @designmom As soon as people started talking about "hey, this self-quarantine thing is a lot like what a general strike would look like," officials started screaming about re-opening the economy ASAP.
  5. …in reply to @emrazz
@emrazz And let's not forget what a big deal protecting children was, by the way, when it was happening in the basements of pizza parlors with no basements!
  6. Trump Rallies Linked to More Than 30,000 COVID Cases and 700 Deaths: Study vice.com/en/article/v7mmxm/trump-rallies-linked-to-more-than-30000-covid-cases-and-700-deaths-study About two weeks after that rally, Tulsa County reported that it was now dealing with hundreds of new coronavirus infections—a record at the time.
oh my god twitter doesn’t include alt text from images in their API
  7. …in reply to @APWUnational
@APWUnational After this is over, Congress needs to talk about expanding the USPS. After fourteen years of defunding and an attack from the top, the workers are still holding it together. Imagine what magic they could make without being kept out of banking or Internet service...
  8. …in reply to @kashanacauley
@kashanacauley Think about how inept one needs to be to hold all the cards, prevent opponents from playing, openly cheat at the table, and still only BARELY win.
  9. …in reply to @enthusiamy
@enthusiamy Remember all the "don't exaggerate, the administration won't be that bad" arguments? Well, now we have outright ethnic cleansing and arguably attempted genocide.
  10. …in reply to @realJonRiley
@realJonRiley What amazed me most, this year, is that March basically showed us what a general strike looks like and that it causes even the most regressive politician to scramble to make people happy...and then everybody ignored that lesson and wondered why there was no second check.
  11. …in reply to @netflix
@netflix I mean, you COULD #SaveODAAT and actually recommend it to people; you still try to convince me to watch Altered Carbon. Seems like a good way to "tell these stories" instead of hiding behind secret metrics. Also, not my story or demographic, just a great show.
  12. …in reply to @TomCottonAR
@TomCottonAR The Declaration of Independence neither defines human rights nor has it ever represented official United States policy on them. It's nothing more than a list of grievances against England. This and advocating for the invasion of American cities? You should step down in shame.
  13. …in reply to @Bencjacobs
@Bencjacobs Isn't this literally the act Barr was backed into admitting would be an impeachable obstruction of justice even in his narrow definition...?
  14. …in reply to @BelligerentMan
@BelligerentMan @gingerweil @JSCram3254 That's a tiny part of it, but the bigger part is decades of Republicans deliberately fiddling with the laws to make it almost impossible for them to function.
  15. …in reply to @danielradosh
@danielradosh FAIR favors the term "Inexplicable Republican Best Friend," here. fair.org/home/the-return-of-the-inexplicable-republican-best-friend/ They're just trying to help Democrats and definitely NOT trying to push everyone rightward to get what they want, y'know...?
  16. …in reply to @gaywonk
@gaywonk @Hectorisfunny I recently mentioned that, whenever one of the big tech companies gets headlines about how they're finally taking abuse seriously, it's worth digging back into old headlines to see how many times they've done that before. This sets them up for the next round.
  17. …in reply to @realDonaldTrump
@realDonaldTrump Donald Trump has just destroyed the American Dream in his vision of an America that is "Great." If a person doesn't inherit property from their parents, they will never own a house under his lawless nation. At this rate, he better hope that he's only removed by voting...
  18. …in reply to @iSmashFizzle
@iSmashFizzle @designmom Whenever a company in the Google/Alphabet sphere says they were unaware of something, check old headlines for the number of times they've claimed to be FIXING the thing they don't know anything about...
  19. …in reply to @BreeNewsome
@BreeNewsome One of my favorite bigotry tropes is "why can't [insert movement] of today have the class of in [previous decade]," when the same tactics are being used to demand the same things. What they mean is "why do I need to see it happen?"
  20. …in reply to @Steven_Strauss
@Steven_Strauss @bernybelvedere Through 2020, I saw WAY too many credulous "Trump would never meddle with the election, because that's illegal" think-pieces...
  21. …in reply to @ben_rosen
@ben_rosen To be fair, pretty much the same people whined about all of those laws when they were brought to public attention. In forty years, they'll dutifully wear their masks while while protesting the Don't Jump from Your Flying Saucer bill...
  22. …in reply to @JenAshleyWright
@JenAshleyWright I remember being asked by a conservative how, when liberals are desperate for failure, Trump can prove that he'll be a good President. I pointed out that everybody will be thrilled to be surprised, but he actually needs to do good things. The person walked awyay in a huff.
