    @realJonRiley I don't know. Rewatching TNG for the first time (and finishing Picard), it looks an awful lot like a world where the wealthy and big orgs have material needs handled (like if your family owns a massive French estate), and we just ignore the people who clean windows for a living.

      @realJonRiley The original series was slightly better about this, actually showing inequality and showing how it's bad for the wealthy, too. But more recent shows rarely show enough Federation life to know what the economy looks like when you're not employed by Starfleet.
